(More customer reviews)Dear Durbin (above) thinks he over paid for his Zojirushi, but I have a Zojirushi and I have an airpot from the discount store (I'm sure it's the one Durbin is referring to (about $29.). The Zojirushi outlasts the one from the discount store by many hours. I know I've tested them fairly! The day after I've made tea in both, the tea in the discount store pot is tepid while the tea in the Zojirushi is still piping hot.
Also, the glass in the one from the discount store just burst (a very dramatic explosion) and I'm almost glad because now I can go out and buy another of the best... the Zojirushi. And if you're thinking i am from the company, I am not. I have nothing to do with them, they just make a much better product. Something becoming all to rare in our new world... Bravo Z.

Zojirushi Premium Thermal Carafe Review

(More customer reviews)I have tried a half dozen different brands over the years and this brand is excellent. I was in a coffee shop in Asheville NC and got a cup of coffee from a larger version of this product. I remarked to the server that the coffee was certainly hot and that he must have just made a fresh pot. He said the coffee was about 4 hours old and said his wife (the owner of the shop) had tested about a half dozen different brands of carafes prior to deciding on Zojirushi. He said she found it the best on the market. He indicated that they frequently take excess coffee from the day home and have it straight from the carafe the next morning and find it hot.
I got the product name and went to Amazon to read the reviews on this product prior to purchasing and was therefore aware of the problems identified by the reviewers here. I have now owned the carafe for about a year and use it most days. I usually run hot water into the carafe and let it heat up the container prior to pouring coffee and sealing it. I have kept coffee very hot for over 24 hours. Of course, the secret is to always close the carafe (check the slot to insure it is closed) back immediately after pouring a cup. I also wash the top in a dishwasher after use. This allows water to enter the top (as noted by one reviewer). I turn the top so that the horizontal hole in the side is at the bottom and the water pours out. I shake it a few times and it is good to go.
I find the product more than adequate to prevent coffee from tasting stale. I frequently make 10-12 cups of coffee at a time and pour a few cups then put the remainder into a carafe and seal it until further use. I find the coffee hours later as good as a freshly made cup of coffee. I usually drink the carafe of coffee within 4-6 hours.
After using several other similar products I find this product superior to those products therefore warranting a 5-star rating.
The one disadvantage was the higher price but after a year of use from a value consideration, it is worthwhile.

(More customer reviews)This was a gift for my mother for Christmas. My parents always have the whole family over to their house for Christmas and they are coffee drinkers. This has always been a problem because space limitations and lack of availability of larger coffee makers that would fit in has always been a problem. She'd always have to make 2 pots and eventually, people would wind up with cool coffee since not everyone wanted it at the same time. In comes this Zojirushi SRAG30 Airpot. Now, not being a coffee drinker myself, I did a lot of research in advance. As there wasn't a lot of feedback available for this particular product, I don't know if I just got lucky in picking it or if the limited information was just that accurate, but this thing is literally almost unbelievable. Not only was the coffee made 3 hours before the first cup was pourted still hot when the last cup was poured, but it was hot the next morning, 20 hour later...and still steaming hot the next evening, 30 hours later. This morning, the coffee coming out of it is still apparently steaming. Now while I'm sure it's much cooler than it was when it first went in, the fact that I can still see visible steam rising from what's coming out of it coming up on 2 days later is just amazing. I couldn't be happier with this purchase.
Now, the scientist in me knows not everyone will get these same results as some external factors most likely played a part in this. For starters, when preparing it for it's first use, I boiled water (raging boil, not just hot tap water) and filled it. I then proceeded to close it up and pump out the hot water which would have increased the pressure of the hot air inside, warming it more. Then after the coffee was put into it, I put it on top of the stove, on which the oven was running periodically throughout the day. I'm sure this helped to keep it hot. However, this was during the winter and a nearby window was open much of the time, so there was also a cooling factor as well.
Overall, I can't say enough good about this product. While not the most extravagant gift I purchased this year, it may turn out to be the best as far as doing what it's meant to do.

(More customer reviews)I'm a die-hard coffee drinker and have used pump pots for years. This was purchased last year and here are my thoughts:
1) Will keep coffee hot and fresh for hours. Not luke warm, but almost as hot as when first brewed. (This at the end of 8-9 hours)
2) Large push button often sticks and it's difficult to get it to release.
3) Hinged-lid is not very stable, mine broke within months. Pot still works, I use mine daily.
4) If you can find the one they make that has a lever-type pump, in my opinion, it's the greatest way to go. Not only does it pump better, but lastt longer also. Only replaced mine because I broke the liner and couldn't find a replacement at the time.
5) These are awesome for retaining heat, look nice sitting on the counter and you'll never again have to drink burnt coffee.

(More customer reviews)I have to give a Zojirushi airpot five stars. Zojirushi is known for their airpots. They are the best. Period. My mom had one, not the premier model, just the regular one, for almost fifteen years. I just bought this one with the special pump. I have to say that I expected it to look cheaper than the one my mom had, but I was wrong. I've noticed that after over fifteen years, they still make their products the way they used to. What surprised me the most is that they are still made in Japan. Zojirushi airpots are pricey but they are worth every penny you spend. They last longer than other airpots and keep the water hot for more hours.
Update: I forgot to say that it's better to fill it all the way up or at least half of it because if you pour inside only a cup of water or coffee, it will be warm the next day, not hot.
