(More customer reviews)Feral Will, our little rescued and quite neurotic cat, has calmed down considerably since we began using the fresh food tower. He used to gorge when we put out food, then beg when the bowl was empty. Sometimes his begging was while one of us was attempting to go down stairs or walk across a room. Once we left for a long weekend leaving two huge bowls of food so he wouldn't freak out. Uhhh, not such a great idea, he ate every speck of food and I think he must have gained three pounds.
This little, simple tool lets Feral relax. Food is always there so he doesn't have to gorge. Nice. I haven't tripped over him in weeks. We did have to put some tape over the hole to make the hole smaller to slow down the food flow. But that works and Feral is content and my life is easier. Very good return on my investment.

(More customer reviews)This feeder works pretty well. It was very easy to put together, but can be a little quirky in getting it to work. I purchased one to try out first and it worked perfectly when I plugged it in. The second one I ordered did not. I tried to return it via Amazon customer service, but Amazon told me I had to call the vendor's customer service. When I called the vendor, they told me I had to call the maker of the feeder to troubleshoot first. Only when troubleshooting doesn't fix the problem that the vendor would accept the feeder back and send me a replacement. Real hassle! I was frustrated by the run-around, but had no choice but to call the maker customer service line. Their customer service person was very courteous and helpful, explaining in details what I needed to do. After following his instructions, I was able to get the feeder to work.

(More customer reviews)After looking around for an auto feeder it seemed like they all had some issue, but this had mostly positive reviews so I figured I'd give it a try. I bought two so each of my cats could have one. Unfortunately one of them did not work upon arrival so I sent it back and had a new one sent within a week. A few things to point out based on other reviewers problems.
1. Programming is quite easy if you just follow the instructions, it took me about 2 minutes to have it set up and ready to go.
2. If you attach the container and lid on properly your cat will not be able to get into it.
3. It will only take a day or two for your cat to realize if it sticks its arm up the food chute it can get a piece or two out but it's probably more of a hassle than your cat will want to deal with after a few tries.
4. If you are using normal dry cat food (which is smaller than the 1/2" recommended size on the instructions) the portion control isn't very accurate. I found I had to just set it 1/4 cup smaller than I actually wanted them to have.
Once you figure out a few of the quirks of this product it will work without problems. Both of mine have made my life much easier since the cats know I don't control their food anymore than just sit around until they hear the food being portioned out by the auto feeder.

(More customer reviews)I've had this automatic feeder for 2 years. It works great and has eliminated the screaming my cat used to do before meals. Now she just sits in front of the feeder and waits for it to go off. It holds 6 meals (but one is exposed so it really only has 5 meals). The cover rotates to expose a new meal every 6, 12, or 24 hours. My cat has been very abusive to the machine (because she can smell the food in it) however she has not been able to break the cover or get to any of the other food compartments. If you do force the machine to go backwards the motor will kick on and rotate the cover back to the correct position. My only real problem with the feeder is that the motor is quite loud and drains the battery very quickly. Also as a note, there is no way to set the hour on the feeder, it just goes off 6,12, or 24 hours after you turned it on. So if you want it to always go off at 7am you would need to turn the power on at 7am/pm the first time.

The only thing is that my cat seems to be very curious by the fact of the water level remaining the same, so he tries to take all the water out and makes a mess around it :(
